25 years later: RIP 2pac Shakur

The photo of Tupac Shakur before being gunned down in Las Vegas qualifies as several levels of dark.

The photo was taken September 7, 1996 after a Mike Tyson fight at the MGM Grand by then-29-year-old photographer Leonard Jefferson. He tells the story of taking the photo in Complex, which is an interesting read 25 years later

The Story Behind the Final Photograph of 2PacLeonard Jefferson snapped the last photograph of 2Pac while he was still alive. Here’s what went down that night. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.www.complex.com/music/2016/09/last-picture-of-2pac

They’re sitting in a black BMW at the intersection he would be shot at only minutes later. He was shot from a .40-caliber Glock four times: twice in the chest, once in the arm, and once in the thigh. He died six days later in the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada.

You can see a lot in Pac and Suge’s faces, and it’s as haunting an image today as it was 25 years ago.
